P90X Reviews: The Only One You’ll Ever Need to Read

P90X Reviews: The Only One You’ll Ever Need to Read

If you look around on the internet, you will find tons of P90X reviews.  Do you know what 95% of them are? Relentless promotion of a product they've never used.  What kind of reviewing is that?  What I want to do, in this post, and throughout this blog, is give you my personal review of P90X, without all the empty hype.

Furthermore, I'm going to show you where to buy P90X and P90X equipment (near the end of this article).  Guess what?  It's not from where you would expect.  Most people will link you to Beachbody (the creator of P90X) or some other site, and on most of those sites, you will overpay.  I'm going to show you where you can buy it from less.  And best of all, it's probably somewhere you're familiar with and comfortable with buying from - not some sketchy sales page.

The Slow Carb Diet Review – A Great Diet for P90X

The Slow Carb Diet Review – A Great Diet for P90X

Although my P90X efforts during "round 2" have been rather poor, there has been something good to come out of the past few weeks.  A couple weeks ago, I started the Slow Carb Diet, a diet detailed by author Tim Ferriss in his book The 4-Hour Body.  It's not your typical "low carb" diet - there are a few elements of the diet that are restrictive and also enticing.

After two weeks of eating whatever I want (it's not what you think - I'll explain below), I've already lost nearly 5 lbs. without any exercise.  I can only imagine what my results would be like if I were active with P90X during this time.

Okay, I Failed, But It’s Time for a New Beginning

Okay, I Failed, But It’s Time for a New Beginning

You probably figured something was wrong when I stopped updating after week 8.  In fact, it's been over 5 months since then.  Yes, after 8 weeks (actually, I made it through week 9), I somehow gave up on P90X.  I had to travel to Orlando for a week because of work, and after that one week break, I couldn't get myself going again consistently.

That's in the past now, because after a few failed attempts between then and now, I'm committed to doing another round of P90X - hopefully for 90 days this time.

Days 50-56: The Second Recovery Week

Days 50-56: The Second Recovery Week

With 7 entire weeks of P90X "in the books," I'm nearly two-thirds of the way done with the whole system.  I can't say that it's been easy, but I can say that the results are as promised.  Yes, I'm still in the best shape of my life, and yes, I do think the best is yet to come.  This P90X review isn't done yet!  I'm not really sure how far I'll get with weight loss (it's been going a little bit slower than expected), but at the same time, I don't care too much.  More on that below.

Days 43-49: Week 7 (2nd Recovery Week Around the Corner!)

Days 43-49: Week 7 (2nd Recovery Week Around the Corner!)

Week 7 marks the half way point for the P90X program, which is very exciting.  It's also worth pointing out that the second recovery week is right around the corner (in week 8).  The results are appearing nicely so far, but I'm really going to need to bring it if I want to improve in the second half of these 90 days.

With that said, let's dive right into this week and see how everything went.

Pushup Stands – A Difference Maker

Pushup Stands – A Difference Maker

When I first started with P90X, the thought of using pushup stands didn't even enter my mind.  Growing up, through physical education at school and elsewhere, it was always sufficient to just put your hands directly on the floor and do your pushups.   I guess when you're a kid, you have the durability to do this without any discomfort or injury.

As you get older (and I certainly don't consider myself "old"), your body becomes more susceptible to injury, and your recovery time for an injury tends to get longer and longer.  I started noticing that when I did more than a few reps of normal pushups, my wrists became uncomfortable and in some cases, became sore.  It really wasn't until I started watching the P90X videos that I realized there was a perfectly good solution for this: pushup stands.
